Earthquake Hits Northern Philippines

An earthquake measuring 5.4 magnitude on the Richter scale hit on Sunday the Province of Batanes in northern Philippines.

The epicenter of the quake occurred 42 km from Sabtang in Batanes, at a depth of 48 km, according to the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (PHIVOLCS).

There have been no reports of casualties or material damage due to the earthquake so far.

On Wednesday, a 5.2-magnitude earthquake struck off the coast of the Davao Oriental province, south of Philippines, at a depth of 39 km.

The Philippines is exposed to volcanic and seismic activity due to its location on the Pacific Ring of Fire.
