Doha: An earthquake measuring 5.2 magnitude on the Richter scale hit Tigray region today, north of Ethiopia: An earthquake of magnitude 5.2 has struck the Tigray region in northern Ethiopia, with tremors being recorded today.

According to Qatar News Agency, the US Geological Survey (USGS) reported that the earthquake occurred 46 kilometers east of Adigrat in the Tigray region. The seismic event took place at a depth of ten kilometers.

There have been no reports of casualties or material damage due to the earthquake so far. The region's response teams are on alert to assess any potential impact.

Ethiopia is situated within the Main Ethiopian Rift, a geological area that experiences periodic seismic activity. This earthquake is part of the ongoing tectonic activities in the region.
