Earthquake of 5.6 Magnitude Strikes Japanese Hachijojima Island

Tokyo, An earthquake measuring 5.6 magnitude on the Richter scale struck Hachijojima Island, Japan. Japan Meteorological Agency (JMA) reported that the earthquake occurred in the sea adjacent to the island at a depth of 40 km, explaining that no warning had been issued about the possibility of tsunami waves. Japan often witnesses earthquakes, as it is located on the Ring of Fire in the Pacific region, in which intense seismic activity is recorded that extends across Southeast Asia to the Pacific basin.
