An earthquake measuring five on the Richter scale hit on Wednesday northeast of the city of Kubagma in the mountains of Papua, western Indonesia. The Indonesian Meteorology, Climatology and Geophysics Agency reported that the epicenter of the earthquake occurred 96 km from Northeast of Kobagma, at a depth of 26 kilometers. There have been no reports of casualties or material damage due to the earthquake so far. Indonesia is regularly exposed to earthquakes due to its location on the Pacific Ring of Fire where many tectonic plates meet and cause frequent volcanic and seismic activity.
