Egypt and Kuwait FMs Discuss Economic Cooperation and Support for Somalia’s Sovereignty

Cairo: Egyptian Foreign Minister Badr Abdelatty spoke on the phone with his Kuwaiti counterpart to discuss bilateral ties and the joint commitment to advancing cooperation, particularly in the economic, commercial, and investment sectors, to benefit the mutual interests of both peoples.

According to Qatar News Agency, the two ministers emphasized their clear opposition to Israel's unilateral moves to recognize Somaliland. This discussion is part of ongoing consultations and coordination between Egypt and Kuwait. They reiterated their strong commitment to supporting Somalia's sovereignty and territorial integrity, as well as its legitimate institutions, viewing these Israeli actions as violations of international law and the UN Charter, which threaten stability in the Horn of Africa.

Abdelatty expressed Egypt's consistent stance in supporting Yemen's unity and territorial integrity, along with the preservation of its national state institutions. He also voiced concerns over escalating risks and their impact on the region's humanitarian situation and security. Furthermore, he praised regional efforts aimed at fostering calm and creating an environment conducive to resuming a comprehensive political path.
