Cairo: Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi discussed with the President of the Slovenian National Assembly, Urska Klakocar Zupancic, the situation in the Gaza Strip and the enhancement of bilateral relations.
According to Qatar News Agency, during the meeting, President El-Sisi expressed appreciation for Slovenia's support for Palestinian rights, particularly through its recognition of the Palestinian state. He emphasized that establishing a Palestinian state based on the June 4, 1967, borders, with East Jerusalem as its capital, is crucial for achieving lasting peace and stability in the region.
El-Sisi outlined the efforts being made to restore the ceasefire in the Gaza Strip, facilitate the exchange of hostages and detainees, and ensure the delivery of humanitarian aid to address the ongoing crisis in the area.
Urska Klakocar Zupancic reaffirmed Slovenia's support and appreciation for Egypt's position, highlighting her country's opposition to the displacement of Palestinians. She also commended Egypt's significant role in promoting peace and stability in the Middle East and expressed a desire to enhance consultation and coordination with Egypt on various international issues of mutual interest.
On the topic of bilateral relations, President El-Sisi noted the recent progress in the relationship between Egypt and Slovenia, underscoring the important role of parliamentary institutions in both countries in fostering cooperation, particularly in economic, trade, and investment sectors.
