Panama city: Egyptian Minister of Foreign Affairs Dr. Badr Abdelatty discussed regional developments, efforts to de-escalate tensions, and ways to enhance bilateral cooperation during a phone call with Kaja Kallas, High Representative of the European Union for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy.

According to Qatar News Agency, the Egyptian Ministry of Foreign Affairs issued a statement on Friday, noting that Abdelatty emphasized the importance of coordinated regional and international efforts. These efforts include ensuring the implementation of the second phase of a plan proposed by US President Donald Trump, alongside continued support for the National Committee for the Administration of Gaza, a temporary body responsible for managing the daily affairs of Gaza Strip residents.

The Egyptian foreign minister highlighted the necessity for the swift deployment of an international stabilization force. This force would monitor the ceasefire, facilitate humanitarian aid flow, and oversee the Israeli withdrawal from Gaza. Such actions are intended to pave the way for recovery and reconstruction based on the needs of the Palestinian people in Gaza.

On the topic of Sudan, Abdelatty informed the EU official about Egypt's ongoing efforts within the Quartet framework. He stressed the urgency of reaching a humanitarian truce as a precursor to a comprehensive ceasefire and the launch of an inclusive, Sudanese-owned political process.

Abdelatty also emphasized the importance of establishing safe humanitarian corridors in Sudan, ensuring aid access, and supporting Sudan's sovereignty, unity, and territorial integrity. He reaffirmed the priority of preserving Sudan's national institutions.

The discussion further covered the need to de-escalate regional tensions and prevent instability, focusing on creating a conducive environment for diplomatic solutions and political settlements. Abdelatty stressed the importance of resuming dialogue between the United States and Iran regarding the Iranian nuclear issue, aiming for a comprehensive settlement that considers all parties' interests.

Additionally, the conversation included ways to strengthen the strategic partnership between Egypt and the European Union, particularly following the first Egyptian-European summit held in Brussels last October.
