Egypt, Jordan Discuss Strengthening Relations, Gaza, and Regional Matters

Egypt: Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi met in Cairo with Jordanian King Abdullah II to discuss strengthening the bilateral relationship, as well as the latest developments in the Gaza Strip, the West Bank, and a number of countries in the region.

According to Qatar News Agency, both sides underscored the importance of fully implementing the war cessation accord in the Gaza Strip, US President Donald Trump's plan for peace, reinforcing the unhindered upsurge of life-saving humanitarian aid into Gaza, and scrambling to initiate the early recovery and reconstruction process in the enclave. They also reaffirmed their countries' enduring positions pushing back against any attempts to displace the Palestinian people from their territory.

The two sides likewise addressed developments in the West Bank and reaffirmed their pushback against all arbitrary violations and practices against the Palestinian people, stressing that the establishment of an independent Palestinian state on the 1967 borders, with East Jerusalem as its capital, is the sole way to achieve everlasting peace and stability in the Middle East region.

Regarding developments in several countries of the region, both sides stressed the importance of de-escalating regional tensions, boosting combined efforts to safeguard stability in the region, as well as the importance of settling crises through peaceful means, respecting the sovereignty and territorial integrity of nations, and protecting their peoples' gains.

As such, the two sides emphasized the importance of moving ahead with political consultations between Egypt and Jordan on a variety of issues, as well as stepping up joint coordination to support regional peace and stability.
