Egypt: Egypt has reaffirmed its full support for the resumption of negotiations between the United States and Iran through the meeting being held today in Muscat, under the mediation of the Sultanate of Oman.
According to Qatar News Agency, Egypt's Ministry of Foreign Affairs issued a statement emphasizing Cairo's commitment to efforts aimed at de-escalation and achieving a peaceful and sustainable resolution to the Iranian nuclear file. This aligns with directives from President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi. The statement highlighted the necessity of creating a conducive atmosphere founded on goodwill and mutual respect to swiftly conclude a lasting agreement and avert military escalation risks that could impact the entire region.
The ministry reiterated that military solutions are not viable for the Iranian nuclear issue, emphasizing the importance of dialogue and negotiations to address the interests of all involved parties. Egypt pledged continued support for reaching an agreement on the nuclear file in coordination with regional partners, benefiting both the negotiating sides and the region.
The statement praised the efforts of Qatar, Turkey, Oman, Saudi Arabia, and Pakistan in facilitating these negotiations. Egypt expressed hope that these endeavors would lead to a positive breakthrough, enhancing stability and peace prospects in the region.
Additionally, the ministry highlighted the significance of strengthening international efforts to address nuclear non-proliferation risks comprehensively. This includes supporting the establishment of a Middle East free of nuclear weapons, promoting the universalization of the Treaty on the Non-Proliferation of Nuclear Weapons (NPT) in the region, and ensuring the application of comprehensive safeguards by the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) to all nuclear facilities.
