Lebanon: Egypt's Foreign Minister Badr Abdel Aati stated that his country would persist in its mediation efforts with Qatar and the US to establish a ceasefire in the Gaza Strip. The announcement was made during a joint press conference with Palestinian Prime Minister Mohammed Mustafa at the Egyptian side of the Rafah border crossing with Gaza. Abdel Aati expressed Egypt's opposition to what he described as Israel's deliberate starvation campaign against Gaza's residents.
According to Qatar News Agency, Abdel Aati accused the Israeli occupation of attempting to alter the situation in the Gaza Strip by pushing the population southwards. He emphasized Egypt's opposition to any initiatives aimed at displacing Palestinians from their territories. Abdel Aati further asserted that illusions and the arrogance of power would not bring security to Israel or the region, dismissing the concept of Greater Israel as an illusion that Egypt would not permit.
The Egyptian foreign minister also mentioned that Egypt is organizing training programs for Palestinian personnel to assume security responsibilities in Gaza. He reaffirmed Egypt's commitment to supporting the Palestinian people in their quest for their legitimate rights, self-determination, and the establishment of an independent state.
Palestinian Prime Minister Mohammed Mustafa, during the same press conference, acknowledged the efforts of countries involved in delivering aid to Gaza. He called for more decisive international action and pressure on Israel to permit the entry of aid into the Strip. Mustafa underscored the urgent need to halt the Israeli military actions in Gaza and condemned the ongoing blockade that restricts aid deliveries.
In this context, Mustafa urged for measures to compel Israel to desist from using starvation as a tactic in Gaza.
