Doha: Egypt's Foreign Minister Badr Abdelatty emphasized the crucial need for Israeli occupation to accept the ceasefire proposal mediated by Egypt and Qatar, based on the plan presented by US Special Envoy for the Middle East.
According to Qatar News Agency, the ceasefire would be followed by reconstruction efforts in Gaza, starting with an international conference on early recovery and reconstruction. This conference is scheduled to be held in Egypt in cooperation with the Palestinian Authority and the United Nations.
The remarks came during Abdelatty's meeting in Cairo today with Secretary-General of the Palestinian Fatah Movement's Central Committee, Jibril Rajoub, where they discussed the latest developments in the West Bank and Gaza Strip.
The Egyptian Foreign Ministry reiterated Egypt's firm rejection of Israeli military operations in Gaza, displacement plans targeting Palestinians, and acts of genocide, including the use of starvation as a weapon against the Palestinian people.
Additionally, Abdelatty condemned Israel's settlement plans in the E1 area of the West Bank and other illegal practices, such as land confiscations and settler intimidation campaigns against Palestinians.
