Doha: Egyptian Minister of Foreign Affairs Badr Abdelatty discussed the rapidly evolving situation in the Middle East during telephone calls on Wednesday with several Gulf and Arab counterparts. Abdelatty held talks with Saudi Minister of Foreign Affairs Prince Faisal bin Farhan, UAE Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Omani Foreign Minister Badr bin Hamad Al Busaidi, and Syrian Foreign Minister Asaad Al Shaibani.
According to Qatar News Agency, during the calls, the ministers voiced grave concern over the dangerous military escalation in the region and its repercussions for regional peace and security, warning that the continued expansion of the conflict poses a direct threat to international peace and stability. They agreed to maintain close consultations and coordination in the coming period, intensify discussions on future regional arrangements, and emphasize the need for a unified Arab position to safeguard Arab interests and resources and preserve the security and stability of the region and its peoples.
In this context, the Egyptian Foreign Minister reiterated his country’s full support for Arab states and its categorical rejection of any attacks targeting their territories or any pretexts used to justify such actions or undermine their sovereignty, stressing that Arab national security is indivisible.
