Cairo: Egyptian Foreign Minister Badr Abdelaaty discussed with Director General of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) Rafael Grossi developments of the Iranian nuclear and efforts to contain the escalating tensions in the region in a phone call Thursday.
According to Qatar News Agency, the Egyptian Foreign Ministry stated in a press release that Abdelaaty reviewed, during the phone call, the contacts that have taken place over the past few weeks to resume dialogue between the United States and Iran. This dialogue aims to address concerns related to the Iranian nuclear program, taking into account the interests of all parties, and to achieve regional security and stability.
In this context, the Egyptian Foreign Minister expressed hope that the United States and Iran would reach a mutually acceptable settlement that addresses the concerns of all parties, thus sparing the region further tension and achieving the interests of the region's peoples in stability and development.
He stressed the need to continue regional and international efforts to reduce tension and escalation in the region and to promote diplomatic and political solutions.
He also emphasized that Egypt will continue its intensive contacts and tireless efforts to support security and stability in the region.
