Cairo: HE Egyptian Minister of Investment and Foreign Trade Eng. Hassan El Khatib expressed the commitment of both Egypt and Qatar to establish joint mechanisms aimed at doubling Qatari investments in Egypt. This was conveyed during a statement made to the Qatar News Agency (QNA) on the sidelines of the Egyptian-Qatari Investment Forum, which took place in Cairo.
According to Qatar News Agency, the minister highlighted the rising trend of Qatari investments in Egypt and emphasized that both nations have the potential to increase current investment figures significantly. The establishment of joint mechanisms is seen as a crucial step toward achieving this objective.
The Egyptian Minister underscored the significance of the forum in enhancing bilateral investment opportunities, stating that such gatherings are central to efforts aimed at promoting investment between the two countries. He noted that governments should focus on setting policies and implementing necessary structural reforms to encourage the private sector to lead in investments and trade.
Eng. El Khatib also remarked on the special nature of the relationship between Egypt and Qatar, expressing a desire to elevate these ties to a strategic level. He mentioned that the trade volume between the two nations could see substantial growth through the discussed mechanisms aimed at boosting both trade and investments.
He further explained the strategic opportunities available, highlighting Egypt's position as a major competitive production hub and Qatar's role as a gateway to the large Asian markets. Strengthening bilateral cooperation could provide significant access to these markets, thereby benefiting both countries economically.
