Cairo: Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi met with General Abdel Fattah Al Burhan, Chairman of the Transitional Sovereignty Council of Sudan, during the latter's visit to Egypt. The discussions centered around the latest developments in Sudan, regional issues concerning the Nile Basin and the Horn of Africa, and the enhancement of bilateral relations between the two nations.
According to Qatar News Agency, the talks underscored the necessity of intensifying efforts to support the Sudanese people, who are facing severe humanitarian challenges due to ongoing conflict. Both leaders emphasized the importance of halting crimes against Sudanese citizens and ensuring accountability for those responsible.
President El-Sisi reiterated Egypt's full support for Sudan, focusing on unity, sovereignty, security, and stability. He assured that Egypt is willing to exert all possible efforts to assist Sudan in overcoming its current crisis. General Al Burhan expressed gratitude for Egypt's support and its role in seeking a resolution to the crisis.
The discussions also included regional developments in the Nile Basin and the Horn of Africa. Both leaders affirmed a shared vision on national security priorities and committed to continued coordination and joint action to safeguard water security. They rejected unilateral actions in the Blue Nile Basin and highlighted the importance of respecting international law to achieve the common interests of all basin countries.
