Egyptian President Highlights Joint Efforts with Qatar and US for Gaza Ceasefire

Baghdad: Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi affirmed that his country, in coordination with its mediation partners, the State of Qatar and the United States, is continuing its intensive efforts for a ceasefire in the Gaza Strip. Addressing the 34th Arab summit, held in Baghdad today, El-Sisi emphasized the significance of the summit being held at a historic moment, as the region faces complex challenges.

According to Qatar News Agency, El-Sisi highlighted that the Palestinian people have endured systematic crimes and brutal practices for more than a year and a half, aimed at obliterating and annihilating them and ending their presence in the Gaza Strip. He described these actions as attempts to force the Palestinian people to flee and leave by force under the horrors of war.

El-Sisi called on the international community, particularly the United States, to take decisive steps to end the humanitarian catastrophe unfolding in Gaza. He also addressed the broader challenges facing the Arab nation, noting that Sudan is at a dangerous turning point threatening its unity and stability, which requires urgent action to preserve the unity of Sudanese territory and its national institutions.

Furthermore, El-Sisi stated that Egypt is continuing its efforts to achieve comprehensive political reconciliation in Libya. He emphasized the importance of a Libyan political process, based on agreed-upon terms of reference, leading to simultaneous presidential and parliamentary elections. This process aims to enable the Libyan people to choose their leadership, ensuring that Libya remains for its people.
