Egyptian, Somali FMs Discuss Bolstering Stability in Horn of Africa

Cairo: Egyptian Minister of Foreign Affairs Badr Abdelatty discussed in a phone call on Tuesday with his Somali counterpart Abdisalam Abdi Ali ways to bolster coordination between the two countries in support of stability and development in the Horn of Africa.

According to Qatar News Agency, both ministers underscored the importance of boosting bilateral cooperation in a range of political, economic, and security domains, in a way that advances the shared interests of both nations and sustains their close consultations across regional and international fora to confront the common challenges facing the Horn of Africa.

Abdelatty affirmed that Egypt is committed to supporting the unity and territorial integrity of Somalia and its national institutions, along with efforts to achieve security and stability in Somalia. He stressed that stability in Somalia is extremely important to achieving peace and security in the Horn of Africa.

In addition, Abdelatty pointed out that Egypt stands side by side with Somalia in combating terrorism and extremism at this critical juncture, stressing the keenness to provide all kinds of support to the Somali side in the counter-terrorism domain.
