Egypt’s FM, IAEA Director General Discuss Military Developments in the Region

Cairo: Egyptian Foreign Minister Badr Abdelaaty discussed with Director General of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) Rafael Grossi the escalating military situation in the Middle East and its repercussions on regional security and stability in a phone call Sunday.

According to Qatar News Agency, the Egyptian Foreign Ministry stated in a press release that Abdelaaty reviewed, during the phone call, the dangerous developments unfolding in the region and their grave political, security, and economic consequences. He stressed the need to de-escalate tensions and prioritize diplomatic solutions to prevent the conflict from spreading and to spare the region further tension and instability.

The Egyptian Foreign Minister emphasized that continued military escalation will only worsen the situation, noting the importance of respecting the sovereignty of states and adhering to the principles of good neighborliness, as well as the necessity of restraint and prioritizing dialogue.
