Center for Empowerment and Care of the Elderly (Ehsan), one of the centers affiliated with the Ministry of Social Development and Family's Qatar Social Work Foundation, and the International Volunteering Platform (Bevol), co-signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU), to achieve shared objectives devoted to serving the elderly in the community. Such a MoU would chart a framework for Bevol to generate an appropriate technological environment, in pursuit of offering qualitative services, such as a special volunteering platform that connects the elderly with volunteering opportunities that best suit their skills and interests in capitalizing on their expertise through utilizing motivational means to create the platform and provide connection mechanisms between the elderly and stakeholders via a cutting-edge technological system. This pioneering service in Qatar sets a precedent in the region for implementing this kind of technological services for the elderly, enabling them to handle technology and providing t hem with diverse services based on their needs, since the propagation of volunteering culture to serve the elderly in the Qatari society, is one of the most consequential goals. In addition, the MoU primarily aims to forge a productive cooperation between the two parties in multiple fields that include joint coordination on promotion aimed at serving the two sides, spreading the culture of volunteering and cooperation in crafting and executing the empowerment programs for the elderly. And it intends to inextricably link volunteering field with the elderly segment, advance the volunteering field, empower the elderly, embark on training and building the capacities of youth, in addition to organizing professional conferences and events within the two parties' field of operation. Acting director of the communications and media bureau at Ehsan Centre, Wissam Mohammed Al Wissam, affirmed that the Centre believes in the importance of collaboration with bodies that share visions and objectives, underlining that Bev ol platform is a perfect partner in the endeavors toward offering best services for the elderly and enhancing their role in the society to achieve social welfare for them. For his part, Regional Director of Bevol platform, Muhammad Khalifa Al Kubaisi said he is fully confident in this partnership that would make a paradigm shift in the elderly world to help them contribute to serving the society through imparting their expertise to youth via state-of-the-art technological tools. He pointed out that such a professional platform would highlight the superb and advanced role of Qatar in serving the elderly in the region, with a massive opportunity available to expand this innovative experience in the world.
