Electing Sheikh Joaan as OCA President Highlights Gulf Leadership Strength

Tashkent: President of Qatar Gymnastics Federation (QGF) Ali Al Hitmi emphasized that the election of HE President of the Qatar Olympic Committee (QOC) Sheikh Joaan bin Hamad Al-Thani as President of the Olympic Council of Asia (OCA) is a significant milestone for Arab sports. This election underscores the trust placed in Gulf leadership capabilities and their pivotal role in promoting the Olympic movement across Asia.

According to Qatar News Agency, Al Hitmi remarked that the confidence and consensus surrounding HE President of the QOC Sheikh Joaan bin Hamad Al-Thani demonstrate the esteemed position Qatari sports leaders have attained. Their ability to take on top leadership roles in continental and international sports bodies is being recognized.

He further noted that HE Sheikh Joaan bin Hamad Al-Thani's vision and extensive experience make him well-suited to lead the upcoming phase, contributing to the advancement of Asian sports and furthering progress within the OCA.

The QGF President pointed out that this election is indicative of the considerable trust HE Sheikh Joaan bin Hamad Al-Thani commands within the Asian Olympic family. HE President of QOC Sheikh Joaan bin Hamad Al-Thani was elected unopposed as the new President of the OCA during the 46th General Assembly meeting held in Tashkent, Uzbekistan, with the attendance of over 350 sports officials from 45 Asian Olympic committees.
