Emergency Arab-Islamic Summit Affirms Solidarity with Qatar Amid Israeli Aggression

Doha: Advisor to the Prime Minister and Official Spokesperson for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Dr. Majed bin Mohammed Al Ansari, highlighted the significance of the Emergency Arab-Islamic Summit held in Doha, which underscored the Arab and Islamic world's solidarity with Qatar in response to the Israeli aggression. Dr. Al Ansari expressed Qatar's gratitude to the leaders who promptly participated in the summit, emphasizing the strong message of unity sent to the international community.

According to Qatar News Agency, during the Ministry of Foreign Affairs' weekly briefing, Dr. Al Ansari stated that the summit conveyed a clear stance against any attack on Qatar, a sentiment echoed by the statement from the Supreme Council of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC). The statement outlined steps to counter the Israeli assault, reflecting widespread international resonance beyond Arab and Islamic borders.

Dr. Al Ansari explained that the summit activated a GCC mechanism designed to respond to aggression against its member states, marking an important reaffirmation of the council's commitment to mutual defense. He noted that Qatar appreciates this support and will implement executive measures in the coming days to further solidify these bonds.

In response to inquiries about a potential joint defense agreement between Qatar and the United States, Dr. Al Ansari mentioned ongoing discussions and preparations, emphasizing the robust and growing defense partnership. Although technical details were not disclosed, he praised the strategic relations between the two nations, particularly in defense, and highlighted the recent visit by US Secretary of State Marco Rubio.

Dr. Al Ansari reaffirmed that Qatar manages its bilateral relations with the United States through official channels rather than media reports, noting ongoing communications and consistent US support for Qatar as a strategic ally. He dismissed attempts by the Israeli Prime Minister to justify his actions, underscoring the violation of international law and the lack of respect for mediation principles.

Regarding Qatar's mediation efforts for a ceasefire in Gaza, Dr. Al Ansari acknowledged the unrealistic nature of such negotiations amid current tensions, focusing instead on defending Qatar's sovereignty and ensuring accountability for the Israeli attack. He emphasized Qatar's ongoing cooperation with the United States on global issues beyond Gaza.

Dr. Al Ansari also detailed meetings held by HH the Amir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al-Thani with international leaders, including US Secretary of State Rubio, to discuss defense relations and regional developments. The Emergency Arab-Islamic Summit saw participation from 57 states, all expressing solidarity with Qatar against Israeli aggression.

Additionally, Dr. Al Ansari reported on Qatar's humanitarian efforts, including aid to Syria and Afghanistan, reflecting the country's commitment to supporting affected populations and enhancing joint humanitarian initiatives.
