EU Allocates £20 Million Aid for Venezuela’s Earthquake Recovery

Doha: The European Union announced on Wednesday its decision to provide an additional £20 million (approximately $22.8 million) in aid to Venezuela in response to the devastating earthquakes that hit parts of the country last June. This new funding aims to support the country's recovery efforts in the aftermath of the natural disaster.

According to Qatar News Agency, the EU has specified that the financial aid will be directed towards acquiring medical equipment and supporting search and rescue teams. The recent commitment follows a previous package of £5 million approved in June and a substantial £52 million aid package that was announced at the start of 2026.

The twin earthquakes that struck Caracas and a region located roughly 160 kilometers west of the capital on June 24 resulted in approximately 4,700 fatalities and thousands of injuries, based on provisional data. The EU's continued assistance underscores its commitment to aiding Venezuela in its recovery and rebuilding efforts.
