EU Expands Sanctions on Russian Maritime Fleet Amid Ongoing Trade Tensions

Brussels: The European Union has added 41 vessels to its sanctions list targeting Russia's shadow fleet, raising the total number of restricted ships to nearly 600.

According to Qatar News Agency, the newly sanctioned vessels will be barred from accessing EU ports and denied a range of maritime services. The move is part of the EU's 19th sanctions package imposed on Russia since the onset of the Ukraine conflict.

Despite these measures, Russia continues to export significant volumes of oil, particularly to India and China, often at discounted prices. A portion of these shipments is reportedly facilitated through a network of vessels operating outside conventional regulatory frameworks.
