European Stock Indices Close Lower After ECB Holds Rates Steady

European stock indices: European stock indices closed lower across the board Thursday after the European Central Bank (ECB) kept interest rates unchanged.

According to Qatar News Agency, the pan-European Stoxx 600 index saw a decline, falling 6.59 points, or 1.07 percent, to close at 611.53 points. The decision by the ECB to hold rates appeared to weigh on investor sentiment across the region.

In France, the CAC 40 index also experienced a decrease, dropping 23.99 points, or 0.29 percent, to settle at 8238.17 points. Similarly, the British FTSE 100 index fell 93.12 points, or 0.90 percent, to close at 10309.22 points.

The German DAX index was not spared from the downward trend, falling by 154.46 points, or 0.63 percent, to conclude the day at 24,448.58 points.
