Doha: European stock indices closed lower across the board Thursday, coinciding with the end of the US government shutdown.
According to Qatar News Agency, the pan-European Stoxx 600 index fell 3.42 points, or 0.5 percent, to close at 590.81 points. The UK's FTSE 100 index experienced a loss of 103.74 points, or 1.05 percent, ending the day at 9,807.68 points.
Germany's DAX index saw a decline of 338.55 points, or 1.3 percent, to finish at 24,042.91 points. Similarly, the French CAC 40 index closed down 8.75 points, or 0.11 percent, at 8,232.49 points by the end of trading.
