European Stocks Close Higher as Banking and Healthcare Lead Gains

London: European stock indices closed higher Tuesday. The pan-European Stoxx 600 index rose 0.5 percent to 621.29 points.

According to Qatar News Agency, following gains in the previous session, the banking sector sub-index continued its upward trend, rising 1.3 percent. Healthcare stocks jumped 1.4 percent to their highest level since September 2024. The real estate sector index advanced 1.8 percent to its highest level since last October.

Meanwhile, defense stocks experienced a decline of 0.2 percent. Energy stocks fell 0.6 percent as Brent crude dropped more than 1 percent, while the materials sector declined 1.6 percent amid falling prices for gold, silver, and copper.
