European Stocks Rise on Gains in Mining, Energy

Bannu: supported by higher oil prices and precious metals, recouping part of the losses they suffered the previous day due to weak earnings in the luxury goods sector.

According to Qatar News Agency, the pan-European STOXX 600 index rose 0.2 percent after falling 0.8 percent a day earlier. The rise in prices led mining company shares to climb to 2.9 percent on Thursday. Energy sector stocks rose 1.3 percent as oil prices increased, while shares of German software company SAP fell 11.5 percent after it announced fourth-quarter revenues in line with market expectations. Deutsche Bank shares lost 2 percent despite posting their largest annual profit since 2007.
