Eurozone Inflation Rises to 2.2% in September, Exceeding ECB Target

Brussels: Annual inflation in the Eurozone rose to 2.2% in September, slightly above the European Central Bank's (ECB) target, following three months of stability, according to data released by Eurostat on Tuesday.

According to Qatar News Agency, the increase, up from 2.0% in August, was in line with market expectations. Core inflation-which excludes volatile items such as food and energy-remained steady at 2.3%, also matching forecasts.

The uptick was primarily driven by rising service prices and a slower decline in energy costs. Analysts suggest the latest figures may strengthen expectations that the ECB will keep interest rates on hold for an extended period to ensure inflation remains under control.
