The executive and legislative branches continued their joint meetings today to discuss a draft law to approve the state’s general budget for the fiscal years 2023-2024.
The meeting was chaired by Speaker of the Council of Representatives Ahmed bin Salman Al Musallam, Shura Council Chairman Ali bin Saleh Al Saleh and Minister of Finance and National Economy Shaikh Salman bin Khalifa Al Khalifa. It was attended by ministers, members of Financial and Economic Affairs Committees in the Shura and Representatives Councils and officials.
The meeting emphasized continued cooperation between the executive and legislative branches to reach a consensus on the general budget draft law, based on the principles of maintaining financial stability and sustainable economic growth, creating promising opportunities for citizens, committing to the Financial Balance Programme and continuing the improvement of the government services and performance.
The meeting reviewed the visions of the members of the legislative branch regarding the general budget draft law for the fiscal years 2023-2024. Queries by members of the parliamentary Financial and Economic Affairs Committees were also answered.
The two teams of the executive and legislative branches agreed to continue the efforts to reach a consensus on the state’s general budget for the fiscal years 2023-2024. They asserted that citizens’ interests is the basis of all plans.
