Extending Period for Settler Incursions into Al-Aqsa Mosque Compound is Dangerous Escalation: Jerusalem Governorate

Jerusalem governorate: The Jerusalem Governorate affirmed that the Israeli occupation authorities' decision to extend the period of settler incursions into the Al Aqsa Mosque by an additional hour daily during Ramadan constitutes a dangerous escalation.

According to Qatar News Agency, the governorate expressed serious concerns about the temporary measure potentially evolving into a permanent policy that extends beyond Ramadan. This decision is viewed as a dangerous escalation affecting the historical and legal status quo at Al Aqsa Mosque and is considered a blatant provocation to the sentiments of Muslims in Jerusalem, Palestine, and worldwide.

The governorate highlighted that the decision was accompanied by incitement campaigns led by extremist colonial associations. These campaigns included the dissemination of videos calling for the closure of Al Aqsa Mosque and the promotion of false religious narratives claiming the site as holy to Jews. This, according to the governorate, is a clear attempt to impose a new reality by force and to entrench the temporal and spatial division of the mosque.

The Jerusalem Governorate reaffirmed that the Al Aqsa Mosque is a purely Islamic place of worship and that all occupation measures against it are null, void, and illegitimate. These actions represent a flagrant violation of international law and relevant international legitimacy resolutions.

With the onset of Ramadan, the occupation forces extended the duration of settlers' incursions into the Al Aqsa Mosque by an additional hour, making it five hours daily.
