Federation Cup Field Events Kick Off for Junior and Cadet Athletes

Doha: The competitions of the Federation Cup for field events commenced on Monday at the track and field venue of Al Rayyan Sports Club, organized by the Qatar Athletics Federation. The event sees participation from nine clubs, namely Al Rayyan, Al Ahli, Al Khor, Al Sadd, Al Arabi, Qatar SC, Al Wakrah, Al Gharafa, and Al Shamal.

According to Qatar News Agency, the organizing committee has set aside two days specifically for junior and cadet categories, focusing exclusively on field disciplines while excluding track races. The initial day of competition showcased a high standard in field events for the junior category, with strong support from both athletics enthusiasts and parents, who encouraged the young athletes to excel in their performances. Notably, the measurements for the junior events are distinct from those of the youth category, whose events are slated for Tuesday.

The young athletes from the participating clubs are competing in a variety of field events, including high jump, long jump, triple jump, javelin throw, shot put, hammer throw, and pole vault. The Qatar Athletics Federation emphasizes the importance of age-group development in athletics, aligning with its vision to nurture promising future generations through well-structured training programs focused on enhancing performance levels continuously.
