FIFA Arab Cup Qatar 2025: Egypt and Kuwait Coaches Say All Set for Group C Opener

Doha: Egypt and Kuwait will kick off their Group C campaigns at the FIFA Arab Cup Qatar 2025 on Tuesday, with both teams aiming to start the tournament on a strong note.

According to Qatar News Agency, Egypt's manager Helmi Toulan expressed his ambition for a strong showing, saying the team has benefited from a solid preparation period, including friendly matches against Tunisia, Morocco, and Algeria. "We have a good mix of youth and experience. Our objectives for the tournament are high, and I have full confidence in all the players," Toulan said at the pre-match presser. He added that the current squad faces a very different challenge compared with previous Egyptian teams in the competition, and stressed that the team will not make excuses for any preparation difficulties.

Midfielder Amr El Sulaya echoed his coach's sentiments, emphasizing that Egypt aims to secure full points in their opening match.

Meanwhile, Kuwait's boss Helio Sousa highlighted his team's preparation, noting six warm-up matches since September. "We are focused on building a strong team and the right mix of players to perform at the level we aim for," the Portuguese said. He acknowledged Egypt as a formidable opponent, recalling that the Egyptian squad fielded a second team in the previous edition and noting the strength of African sides in past semifinals.

Kuwaiti midfielder Eid Al Rashidi said the team is ready for the challenge.

Tuesday's encounter is expected to set the tone for Group C, with both sides eager to make a strong start to the tournament. The group also includes Jordan and the United Arab Emirates.
