Doha: Jordan coach Jamal Sellami hailed his players' impressive performance after their 3-0 victory over Egypt at Al Bayt Stadium in the final round of Group C at the Arab Cup FIFA Qatar 2025. Jordan completed the group stage with a perfect nine points from three wins, while Egypt exited the tournament with only two points from draws against Kuwait and the UAE.
According to Qatar News Agency, Sellami said in the post-match press conference that Jordan fully deserved the win, noting they controlled the match and used the opportunity to field new players in preparation for future competitions. He stressed that those selected delivered a strong showing and gained valuable experience. The coach added that Al Nashama have big ambitions and are now looking ahead to the quarterfinals with confidence.
Jordan's Mohamed Abu Zureiq, named Man of the Match, expressed satisfaction with the team's collective display, saying the game offered a chance for players who had not featured earlier after qualification was secured.
On the other side, Egypt coach Helmy Tolan voiced deep disappointment after his team's early elimination, attributing the poor display to inadequate preparation and the continuation of the Egyptian league up to the tournament's start. Tolan concluded by taking full responsibility for these unsatisfactory results. He added that they do not reflect the stature of Egyptian football, and a serious review is needed to ensure proper preparation for future tournaments.
