FIFA Arab Cup Qatar 2025: Saudi Arabia Coach Acknowledges Taking on Jordan Will Be Tough

Al bayt stadium: French Head Coach of the Saudi squad, Herve Renard, affirmed on Sunday his readiness to face Jordan on Monday at Al Bayt Stadium within the FIFA Arab Cup Qatar 2025 semi-final. Addressing a pre-match press conference, Renard added that the match will be tough, and the players must be at the pinnacle of mental and then physical presence, given the substantial pressures they have endured throughout the tournament, having played approximately one match every three days.

According to Qatar News Agency, the Saudi team is well aware of the mode the Jordan team pursues on the pitch, relying on massive, sturdy defense and swift transitions to counterattack, alongside footballers who are capable of making a difference on the front line, despite the absence of forward Yazan Al Naimat, whom he wished a swift recovery.

Renard said he knows the Jordanian coach Jamal Sellami, who has done a remarkable job with the Jordanian team, guiding them to qualify for the 2026 FIFA World Cup and delivering solid performances in the current iteration of the Arab Cup. However, their run must end at the semifinals, because Saudi Arabia will not let go of the opportunity to win and secure its place in the final, aiming ultimately to capture the title, he stressed.

Saudi footballer Nawaf Boushal affirmed that the squad is at peak readiness to face Jordan, with the aim of securing victory, advancing to the final, and ultimately contending for the title. The team has delivered terrific performances throughout the tournament, approaching each encounter with full focus and tactical discipline until reaching the semifinals, Boushal said. He added that the team is confident in overcoming Jordan and progressing to the championship showdown, asserting that it is hard to take on Jordan squad given its extraordinary performance on the pitch, but Saudi Arabia is bent upon qualification.
