FIFA Arab Cup Qatar 2025: Syria, Palestine Eye Top Spot in Group A Match

Doha: Syria and Palestine will meet on Sunday at Education City Stadium in the final round of Group A at the FIFA Arab Cup Qatar 2025, with both sides aiming for victory to secure first place and a quarterfinal berth. The tournament runs through December 18 with 16 teams competing.

According to Qatar News Agency, both teams enter the decisive match with four points each and are seeking to reach seven points to finish atop the group. A draw would also be enough to send both through, regardless of the outcome of the simultaneous Qatar vs Tunisia match, with those teams having collected just one point apiece from their first two games.

Syria impressed in its opening fixtures, defeating Tunisia 1-0 before drawing 1-1 with host nation Qatar in the closing minutes. Palestine began its campaign with a stoppage-time 1-0 win over Qatar, followed by a 2-2 draw with Tunisia in a lively contest.

The two sides are looking to continue their strong performances and advance to the quarterfinals, aiming to improve on their early exits in the previous edition of the Arab Cup held in Qatar in 2021.
