FIFA Club World Cup 2025: FIFA Praises Competitive Level of All Participating Teams

Doha: The International Federation of Football Associations (FIFA) praised the high level of competition at the ongoing 2025 FIFA Club World Cup, currently taking place in the United States. In its technical reports, FIFA highlighted the intense competitiveness of the tournament, noting that the global performance of clubs reflects the widespread development of high-level football around the world.

According to Qatar News Agency, FIFA's Chief of Global Football Development and former Arsenal manager, French coach Arsene Wenger, said the group stage matches were more fiercely contested than anticipated, commending the outstanding performance of all participating teams. Wenger stated that the tournament exceeded expectations, they wanted to give top clubs around the world a chance to compete at the highest level - and it seems they've started something that won't stop.

German coach Jurgen Klinsmann, a World Cup winner with Germany, echoed that sentiment, stating that the tournament is progressing well. He emphasized that it is more than just a test run for the 2026 World Cup, calling it a clear sign that clubs are taking the competition seriously, especially given the remarkable matches witnessed so far.

Brazilian World Cup champion Gilberto Silva described the tournament as the best recent platform for Brazilian clubs, noting that the level of play demonstrates the quality of Brazilian football, although he acknowledged areas for improvement. Meanwhile, Women's World Cup champion with the US national team, Tobin Heath, admitted she expected European dominance. She noted that the Brazilians surprised them - especially Flamengo, with their excellent ball retention and varied attacking style.

The 2025 Club World Cup is seen as a key milestone ahead of the 2026 FIFA World Cup, which will be jointly hosted by the United States, Canada, and Mexico next year.
