Doha: Qatar's national football team has fallen three places to 54th in the latest FIFA world rankings, placing fifth among Arab nations and sixth in Asia with 1,454.96 points. According to Qatar News Agency, the team struggled at the FIFA Arab Cup Qatar 2025, exiting at the group stage after defeats to Palestine and Tunisia and a draw with Syria. Despite the setback, Qatar qualified for the 2026 World Cup via the Asian playoff, marking its first qualification through the qualifiers after automatically participating as hosts in 2022. Spain retained the top spot in the rankings, followed by Argentina and France, with no changes among the top 33 teams. Morocco leads Arab nations in 11th place worldwide after winning the Arab Cup, while Japan remains Asia's highest-ranked side at 18th. Other notable Arab rankings include Algeria 34th, Egypt 35th, and Tunisia 41st.
