The qatar stock exchange (qse) index continued its positive performance for the third consecutive week:he Qatar Stock Exchange (QSE) index continued its positive performance for the third consecutive week, reaching 11,336 points, recording gains of 268.95 points, or 2.43 percent, compared to the previous week. The gains were supported by most sectors, led by the telecommunications sector, which rose by 5.89 percent, and the industrial sector, which increased by 3.53 percent.
According to Qatar News Agency, financial markets analyst Yousef Bouhlaiqa stated that the QSE index is expected to break the 12,000-point barrier in the coming period, a level that represents an important technical milestone for the market's trajectory during 2026. He noted that a breakout above this level is viewed as a positive technical signal that could pave the way for targeting higher ranges, starting from 11,200 points and extending to 11,500 points, before retesting the 12,000-point level with greater stability.
Bouhlaiqa added that the success of the QSE index in surpassing this barrier would enhance confidence and attract new liquidity, particularly from medium- and long-term investors. He mentioned that the 12,000-point level remains the key headline for the market's path in the coming phase, amid anticipation of a breakout supported by financial results and expected dividend distributions.
He pointed out that these positive movements come amid a supportive economic environment, backed by expectations that the Qatari economy will record growth of 6.1 percent during the current year, according to International Monetary Fund forecasts. He suggested that ongoing investments in manufacturing, logistics services, tourism, and digital transformation would contribute to supporting strong activity in non-oil sectors and enhancing the economy's ability to withstand market volatility.
The financial markets expert also considered the trend toward interest rate cuts by the Federal Reserve (the US central bank) by the end of the current month as an additional opportunity to enhance the attractiveness of Qatari equities, both in terms of price returns and cash dividends, making QSE among the markets likely to attract new investments during 2026.
