FIVB Beach Volleyball U-18 World Championship Kick Starts Here Tomorrow

Doha: The FIVB Beach Volleyball Under 18 World Championship will take place here at the Al Gharafa Beach Courts, starting Tuesday and running until October 11. Hosted in the Middle East for the first time, the Championship will see 32 men's pairs and 32 women's duos drawn from 55 countries compete.

According to Qatar News Agency, the event will begin tomorrow with qualification rounds, where 24 teams will fight for the four remaining spots in the main draw to join the 28 directly qualified teams. The 32 teams will then be split into 8 pools of 4 teams each, with the top 3 ranked teams in each pool (a total of 24 teams) advancing to the next phase of single elimination which will be played until the bronze and gold medal matches.

As the host nation, Qatar is participating with two men's teams: the first team consists of Moussa Al Khair and Ahmed Ziyad, while the second team includes Jassim Al Tamimi and Saad Al Awad. For the women's side, the first team features Bandah Ibrahim and Maryam Mohoub, while the second team includes Lujain Mahmoud and Celine Mahmoud.

The Qatar Volleyball Association affirmed its commitment to delivering an exceptional edition of the championship, both in terms of organization and by providing the best facilities and services to the participating teams and fans. This event adds to the series of major sports events hosted by Qatar, further reinforcing its status as a global sports destination.
