Doha: Brazil's Flamengo booked their place in the semi-finals of the FIFA Intercontinental Cup Qatar 2025 after defeating Mexico's Cruz Azul 2-1 in the Americas Derby at Ahmed bin Ali Stadium on Wednesday.
According to Qatar News Agency, Uruguayan playmaker Giorgian De Arrascaeta scored both goals for Flamengo, striking in the 15th and 71st minutes, while Jorge Sanchez equalised for Cruz Azul shortly before half-time.
Flamengo will face Pyramids FC of Egypt, the 2025 CAF Champions League winners, in Saturday's semi-final. The winner will meet Paris Saint-Germain, the UEFA Champions League holders, in the final on December 17.
