For 12th Consecutive Day: Israeli Occupation Continues to Close Al-Aqsa Mosque and Church of Holy Sepulchre

Jerusalem: For the 12th consecutive day, the Israeli occupation authorities continue to close Al-Aqsa Mosque and the Church of the Holy Sepulchre, preventing access to both sites.

According to Qatar News Agency, the occupation has completely closed Al-Aqsa Mosque to worshippers, allowing only its guards and employees of the Islamic Waqf Department in Jerusalem to enter. Similarly, the same strict Israeli restrictions have been imposed on the Church of the Holy Sepulchre, which remains completely closed to Christians. Entry into the Old City has been limited to its residents only.

Since the 13th of this month, the Israeli occupation army has intensified its aggression against the West Bank, including Jerusalem, closing main and secondary roads across various governorates. This comes amid the ongoing assault on the Jenin, Tulkarm, and Nur Shams camps since January 21, which has led to the displacement of more than 40,000 Palestinians, the demolition of hundreds of homes, the destruction of infrastructure, and the killing and injury of dozens.

Sources indicated that the tightened occupation measures have deprived hundreds of thousands of worshippers from accessing Al-Aqsa Mosque and performing prayers there. Additionally, Israeli police have imposed restrictions on Palestinians entering the Old City, allowing only its residents to pass through military checkpoints set up at its entrances. These restrictions have also resulted in the closure of commercial shops.
