Algiers, Dr. Abdullatif bin Rashid Al Zayani, Foreign Affairs Minister, held a meeting with Ahmed Attaf, Algerian Minister of Foreign Affairs and National Community Abroad. The Foreign Affairs Minister has visited Algeria as part of a tour that covered several Arab countries. The meeting discussed ways to enhance cooperation between the two countries in various fields. It also discussed the current regional situation and how it impacts security and stability in the region. It touched on the ongoing efforts for an immediate cease fire in the Gaza Strip, and to protect the civilian population and provide humanitarian aid. Dr. Al Zayani expressed Bahrain's appreciation for Algeria's diplomatic efforts, through its current membership in the UN Security Council, to support the Palestinian people and defend their legitimate rights, and advocate for international recognition of the Palestinian state and its acceptance as a full member of the United Nations. He also lauded Algeria's efforts to stop the war on the Gaza Strip, and to facilitate the delivery of humanitarian aid to civilians. The two sides discussed the preparations for the 33rd Arab Summit hosted by Bahrain on May 16, the summit's work program and the topics and issues scheduled to be included on the agenda.
