Tunis: The Qatari athletics team won four medals Tuesday, one gold, two silver, and one bronze, at the 11th edition of the Arab U-18 Championship held in Tunisia with the participation of 15 countries.
According to Qatar News Agency, the medals were achieved by Younis Al Balushi, who won the gold medal in the pole vault event; Abdullah Al Abdullah, who claimed silver in the same event; Timo Jumaa, who earned silver in the 100m race with a time of 10.76 seconds; and Saleh Mahmoud, who took bronze in the discus throw.
With these results, Qatar's medal tally rose to five, comprising two gold, two silver, and one bronze, after opening its participation with a gold medal in the shot put event by Saleh Mahmoud.
The Qatari team is competing in the championship, which concludes tomorrow, with a group of athletes in track and field events, including Samer Hussein in the 1500m race, Timo Jumaa in the 100m and 200m races, and Idris Abkar and Hussein Mohammed in the 110m hurdles.
The team also includes Abdulrazzaq Idris and Abkar Idris in the 400m hurdles; Mubarak Saeed in the 1500m race; Abdullah Al Abdullah and Younis Al Balushi in the pole vault; and Saleh Mahmoud in both the shot put and discus throw events.
