Paris: France's e-commerce sales approached pound 200 billion last year, marking a 7 percent increase, the French Federation of E-Commerce and Distance Selling (FEVAD) announced.
According to Qatar News Agency, in its annual report released Wednesday, the federation said the growth was driven by an unprecedented rise in the frequency of purchases, which offset a decline in the average amount spent per transaction.
Total sales reached pound 196.4 billion last year, led primarily by the services sector. Services sales rose 9 percent to pound 120.3 billion, while product sales increased 4 percent to pound 76.1 billion.
Despite the expansion, the pace of growth in French e-commerce slowed in 2025 compared to 2024, when the sector recorded a 9.6 percent surge. The number of transactions climbed 10 percent to 3.2 billion purchases, equivalent to more than 100 orders per second across France. Meanwhile, the average online basket value declined by 3 percent to pound 62 per transaction.
