Gaza Conflict Claims Over 71,500 Lives, Health Ministry Reports

Gaza: The death toll from the ongoing conflict between Gaza and Israeli forces has escalated to 71,550 since the war's inception on October 7, 2023, as per the territory's health ministry.

According to Qatar News Agency, the health ministry released a statement on Monday detailing that Gaza hospitals have received two bodies over the last 48 hours. One of these bodies was retrieved from the rubble, and an additional 12 individuals have been reported injured in recent incidents.

Officials indicated that many victims remain trapped under debris or are lying in the streets, with the extent of destruction hindering ambulance and civil defense teams from reaching them.

The ministry also reported that since a ceasefire was enacted in October of the previous year, a minimum of 465 individuals have lost their lives, and 1,287 have sustained injuries. Additionally, 713 bodies have been recovered from areas that have been damaged.

The ceasefire agreement between Hamas and Israeli forces was implemented in October following the withdrawal of Israeli troops from the densely populated areas of Gaza, allowing for the gradual return of displaced residents to the northern part of the territory. This truce is part of the initial phase of a broader initiative introduced by US President Donald Trump, which aims to bring an end to the ongoing conflict in Gaza.
