Gaza Death Toll Rises to 71,795, Health Ministry Reports

Gaza: The death toll from the Israeli occupation's military offensive in the Gaza Strip has risen to 71,795, with 171,551 people injured, according to Gaza's health ministry.

According to Qatar News Agency, the ministry stated on Sunday that 26 bodies and 68 wounded individuals had been brought to hospitals across the territory over the past 48 hours. It was noted that many victims might still be trapped under rubble or lying in streets, with ambulance and rescue teams unable to reach them.

The ministry also reported that since a ceasefire came into effect in October, at least 523 people had been killed and 1,433 injured, while 715 bodies had been recovered from debris.

A ceasefire agreement between Hamas and Israel was initiated in October, following the withdrawal of Israeli forces from populated areas of Gaza and the return of displaced residents to the north of the territory. This truce is part of the first phase of an initiative proposed by US President Donald Trump, aimed at bringing an end to the war in Gaza.

The conflict began on October 7, 2023.
