Doha: Palestinians in the Gaza Strip are preparing to observe yet another Eid Al Fitr under dire conditions, marked by ongoing destruction, fatalities, and worsening humanitarian circumstances due to continuous Israeli assaults and the blockade, as reported by the Peninsula newspaper. Israeli military actions, reignited by the Netanyahu administration on March 18 following several weeks of ceasefire, have resulted in the deaths of at least 830 individuals within the conflict-ridden region. The blockade, compounded by Israel's decision to halt the power supply to Gaza, has heightened fears of an impending famine, as humanitarian aid remains obstructed.
According to Qatar News Agency, the Peninsula editorial underscored the urgent need for all parties involved in the conflict, particularly Israel, to engage in dialogue, cease hostilities, and facilitate unrestricted humanitarian aid access. Additionally, it stressed the importance of releasing all captives and detainees while advancing towards implementing the Arab-Islamic reconstruction plan for Gaza.
On a national level, Al-Watan highlighted a recent statement by HE Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Jassim Al-Thani. During the National Development Forum, he emphasized the significance of the third phase of the National Development Strategy 2024-2030, particularly the role of the private sector in bolstering economic resilience and capitalizing on emerging opportunities. The newspaper reaffirmed Qatar's dedication to establishing itself as a prominent global player, driven by a dynamic and competitive private sector.
Support for Qatar's private sector has been unwavering, with initiatives continually rolled out to empower its role in the national economy. The Cabinet's directive from October of the previous year, focusing on economic initiatives to bolster private sector participation, was highlighted as part of these efforts. Furthermore, the Cabinet recently approved a draft decision by the Minister of Justice concerning fees for services provided by the Ministry of Justice, aimed at streamlining business establishment processes and enhancing Qatar's business environment. These actions reflect the state's commitment to eliminating hurdles for the private sector and providing comprehensive support across various domains.
