GCA Unveils New AI Services on International Customs Day

Doha: The General Authority of Customs (GCA) launched a new suite of artificial intelligence (AI) services on Monday, aligning with its Strategic Plan (2024-2030) to establish a pioneering customs authority that offers smart and secure services. HE Minister of Finance Ali bin Ahmed Al Kuwari inaugurated these services during the Authority's International Customs Day celebration.

According to Qatar News Agency, the newly introduced AI services include the Smart Harmonized System Classification Tool (HSsify), which converts documents into intelligent decisions for customs declarations, providing accurate classifications for importers, exporters, and customs brokers. The package also features a Pre-Classification service for Harmonized System Codes, offering expert opinions and smart suggestions to expedite decision-making. Additionally, the Agentic AI service and a Smart Virtual Assistant enhance operational efficiency by providing autonomous decision-making and immediate data-driven responses.

HE Chairman Ahmed bin Abdullah Al Jamal emphasized the pivotal role of customs in facilitating trade, enhancing compliance, and supporting economic stability, thus positioning Qatar as a secure trade and investment destination. This year's theme, "Customs Protects Society through Vigilance and Commitment," highlights customs' role in safeguarding societies and ensuring supply chain security.

Al Jamal reiterated the Authority's commitment to its strategic vision under the slogan 'Safe and Smart Customs¦ Regional Leadership¦ Global Competitiveness.' He spotlighted the GAC's achievements in 2025, including processing 6.8 million customs declarations and generating QAR 4 billion in revenue. The introduction of advanced inspection devices at ports has bolstered operational efficiency and safety.

The GCA has also enhanced customs procedures by enabling electronic data exchanges, thus expediting approvals and improving service quality. Its vigilance is reflected in 4,822 seizure reports, underscoring its dedication to community security.

Regionally, Qatar has strengthened its role within the GCC, assuming the chairmanship of the Executive Council of the GCC Customs Union Authority and leading customs integration efforts. Talal Abdullah Al Shaibi, Assistant Chairman for Customs Affairs, highlighted digital transformation as a strategic imperative for the GAC, aligned with Qatar National Vision 2030.

He expressed confidence that the new AI services would streamline processes, reduce human error, and enhance decision-making through predictive analytics. The GCA's celebration also recognized outstanding employees and partners, including the Qatar Chamber, for their support.

Sheikha Tamader Al-Thani from Qatar Chamber expressed gratitude for the recognition and emphasized the importance of continued cooperation to enhance Qatar's business environment and support sustainable economic development.
