Muscat: The Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) welcomed the mediation efforts led by the Sultanate of Oman, which resulted in the release of the crew of the 'Galaxy Leader' vessel, detained off the Yemeni coast since November 2023. The crew consists of 25 individuals from various nationalities.

According to Qatar News Agency, GCC Secretary General Jasem Mohamed Albudaiwi stressed that these efforts reflect Oman's valuable role in supporting regional stability and security, highlighting its steadfast commitment to the importance of regional and international cooperation in establishing security in the Red Sea area and contributing to the reduction of tensions.
