Doha: Secretary-General of the Cooperation Council for the Arab States of the Gulf (GCC) Jasem Mohamed Albudaiwi condemned in the strongest terms the missile attack carried out by Iran against the territory of the State of Qatar.
According to Qatar News Agency, Albudaiwi emphasized that the attack is a violation of Qatar's sovereignty and a direct threat to the security of all GCC member states. He reiterated that the security of the GCC countries is indivisible, and that the Council stands united with Qatar against any threats to its security and territorial integrity.
In his statement, Albudaiwi noted that while Qatar and the GCC countries are condemning Israeli attacks on Iranian territory and striving for a ceasefire through mediation efforts, they are taken aback by Iran's missile attack on Qatar. This action, he stated, breaches all international and UN norms, treaties, and laws.
The Secretary-General urged the international community and the Security Council to condemn this aggression, take steps to deter Iran's actions, and work to restore stability to prevent further escalation in the region. He called for prioritizing dialogue and diplomacy to ensure regional security and the safety of its peoples.
